The latest transfers news and rumours surrounding Liverpool Football Club this Wednesday.
The agent of Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Mahmoud Dahoud has admitted that Liverpool have been targeting the midfielder this summer, but has denied that a release clause is in his contract which could mean the Reds would have an opportunity to sign him for a cut-price deal next summer.
A report from SportBild claimed that he could be available for as little as £8.56 million next summer but his agent Reza Fazeli dismissed those claims in an interview with The Guardian, and said the 20-year-old will remain at the club this season but he could move on in 12 months.
He said: “It is certain Mahmoud will stay with Gladbach for now.
“There has been a lot of interest in him, not just from Liverpool. But we have an agreement with Gladbach and everything has been postponed for next season. We will have to wait and see what happens in the future but it will be up to the club to accept a fee they think is acceptable.”
One midfielder who will be remaining at the club is Lucas Leiva, according to the Daily Mirror, with Jurgen Klopp said to have pulled the plug on a deal at the 11th hour which would have taken the Brazilian to Galatasaray.
Klopp is said not to want to be short of cover in both defensive and midfield areas for the season ahead.
Away from transfer news, Liverpool are sweating on the fitness of three players ahead of their opening Premier League game against Arsenal on Sunday afternoon.
Sturridge missed friendlies against Barcelona and Mainz with a hip problem while James Milner is struggling with a persistent heel problem. The Liverpool Echo has reported they have not trained fully and have taken part in separate sessions, while Marko Grujic is trying to overcome an ankle injury picked up against Mainz.
