New Arsenal star Granit Xhaka has offered glowing praise to teammate Mesut Ozil via the club’s official website.

Ozil was in fine form last season, as he registered 19 assists across the campaign, just one short of Thierry Henry’s all time Premier League record.

Those performances played a key role in helping the Gunners to top of the table by the beginning of 2016.

Like the rest of his team he struggled for his best form in the second half of the campaign, but still finished far ahead of his competitors in the assists table.

And Xhaka is among his many admirers, saying he doesn’t know a better number ten in world football than his new teammate.

“I don’t know a better no 10 than Mesut,” he told the club’s official website.

“He’s very important for this team. He’s something special and I hope he shows that next season. I’m definitely looking forward to playing alongside him.”

Ozil will now be hoping that Arsenal add a world class striker to their squad before the end of the transfer window to help him increase his tally.

He may have managed an impressive number of assists last season, but there’s no telling what that number may have been had he been supplying chances to someone more consistent than Olivier Giroud or Theo Walcott.
