Andre Ayew was snapped up by Swansea City on a free transfer following his release from Marseille at the start of last season and the striker proved to be a wonderful signing for the Swans.

Despite Swansea’s struggles, Ayew managed to score an impressive 12 goals throughout the course of the campaign, and following his exploits it was no surprise whatsoever in seeing a host of clubs expressing their interest in signing the Ghanaian international this summer.

Following much speculation, it is West Ham United who have been able to secure the services of Ayew after agreeing a £20.5 million fee with Swansea, and while the fans would have been left disappointed to see their star leave, they can be consoled by the fact that the club made a huge profit on the striker.

Nonetheless, Ayew did seem to share a strong rapport with the fans at the Liberty Stadium and upon the completion of the transfer, the 26-year-old has posted a heartfelt farewell message to his former side on social media website Twitter.

Swansea fans were certainly appreciative of Ayew’s gesture and delivered a warm response to the striker.

West Ham will be squaring off against Swansea at the Liberty Stadium on December 26 and one can be sure that Ayew will receive a warm welcome from the Swans’ faithful on the day.
