Charlton Athletic are considering a bid for Fulham defender Jack Grimmer, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.

Grimmer is in the final year of his contract at Fulham and Charlton are hoping to persuade their London rivals to cash-in on the versatile defender.

The 22-year-old joined Fulham from Aberdeen in 2012, but he has struggled to hold down a regular place in the side at Craven Cottage.

Grimmer, who can play at right-back and centre-back, had to wait until November 2014 to make his Fulham debut and he has made 18 appearances for the club.

Grimmer made 24 appearances for Shrewsbury after joining on loan last January and he made a big impression at the Greenhous Meadow.

Charlton boss Russell Slade is thought to be an admirer of Grimmer and he is ready to bring him to the Valley as he sees his versatility as making him a valuable addition to his squad.
