According to Marseille-based Le Phoceen, Georges-Kevin Nkoudou's move to Tottenham and Clinton N'Jie's subsequent switch to Marseille are both off.

Spurs had added a defensive midfielder in Victor Wanyama and a goalscorer in Vincent Janssen so far this summer, but manager Mauricio Pochettino clearly felt that he needed some pace out wide, and targeted Nkoudou.

The 21-year-old joined Marseille from Nantes last summer having emerged as one of the top young prospects in French football, and he enjoyed a decent campaign last season with nine goals and five assists in all competitions.

A speedy left winger, Nkoudou has huge potential and would bring direct running to Spurs' attack, which is currently dominated by talented ball-players like Christian Eriksen, Dele Alli and Erik Lamela, but some times a lack of real speed.

However, Nkoudou's move to White Hart Lane may now be off. Sky Sports reported on Sunday that Nkoudou actually completed a medical with Spurs back in mid-July, but the deal has dragged on and on due to a power shift at Marseille.

Now, Marseille-based Le Phoceen report that the deal has been abandoned after three weeks of talks, meaning manager Mauricio Pochettino may have to look elsewhere in his search for a new winger before this month's transfer deadline.

It's stated that Nkoudou has been staying in a hotel in London waiting for the deal to be done but will now return to Marseille, whilst Spurs forward Clinton N'Jie won't be heading to Marseille any more either, having been set to join the French side on loan.

This deal has already had a number of twists and turns, and whilst the deal appears to be dead right now, that's not to say that the deal can't be resurrected once Marseille get their house in order – but if Le Phoceen are right, it doesn't look like Nkoudou will become a Spurs player this summer.
