Everton midfielder Ross Barkley has taken to Instagram to react to John Stones’ move to Manchester City.

Stones completed a £50 million move to the Etihad on Tuesday, becoming the world’s second most expensive defender in the process.

It brings an end to months of speculation about his future, during which Everton fought hard to get a top price for their man.

The move has received mixed reactions from the Blues faithful, who are sorry to see him leave but pleased by the large sum that the club have received for him.

Barkley wasn’t so split though, admitting he was gutted to see Stones depart Goodison Park.

Gutted to see my mate leave today, going to miss him around the place and on the pitch. All the best lad.

It now remains to be seen if Stones is the only big name to depart Goodison Park this summer.

Striker Romelu Lukaku has also been heavily linked with a move to Chelsea, with the Sun reporting they were set to offer Loic Remy and Asmir Begovic to tempt the Blues into a sale.

After Stones’ departure, Everton are not likely to be keen on a sale though, and it will be interesting to see if they can keep their man this time around.
