The youngster, who was making his competitive debut for the Spanish giants, received the ball 35 yards out with 21 minutes on the clock in the all-Spanish encounter.

He then unleashed a left-foot thunderbolt that flew inch-perfect into the top corner, with Sevilla goalkeeper Sergio Rico not even bothering to dive.

Twitter immediately went into meltdown, with many thinking that the next star has just announced himself to the world.

The youngster began his career with Mallorca and signed for Real Madrid in 2014 before being loaned back to his hometown club for the 2014/15 season.

He spent last season on loan at Espanyol, but has spent pre-season at the Bernabeu, featuring in all three of the club's friendlies against PSG, Chelsea and Bayern Munich.

Manager Zinedine Zidane left out big names such as Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo from his line-up for the match with Sevilla, giving fringe players the opportunity to shine.

Asensio has grabbed that chance with both hands, and it looks like he will be featuring a lot more both for Real and for the Spanish national side (for whom he made his debut in May) in the 2016/17 season.
