The Ghana star reunited his old team-mate at West Ham United.
The 29-year-old is adored by West Ham fans after a hugely-successful first season with the Irons last term, scoring 12 and setting up 14 goals in all competitions to earn himself a PFA Player of the Year nomination, losing to Riyad Mahrez.
The France playmaker went on to enhance his reputation even further by dazzling for his nation during Euro 2016 this summer, playing a huge role in helping les Bleus finish runners-up in the tournament.
Ayew, a £20.5 million signing from Swansea City on Monday, spent two years playing alongside Payet at Marseille, and the Ghana international says there is even more to come from the Irons star this season.
“He’s a friend of mine as we played two or three years together at Marseille. I know him and he knows me and I’m happy to be back playing with a great player like him, because I know what he is capable of doing," he told the club's official website.
“I know what he did last season and he can do even more, so now I’m back with him we’re going to work together with the whole team and do everything possible to make things right."
West Ham kick off their Premier League season with a tricky visit to Chelsea this weekend.
