New Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers’ last minute recruitment and decision to include Scott Sinclair in his squad for the Bhoys opening game of the Scottish Premiership campaign certainly paid off.

Celtic had only just confirmed the deal to sign Sinclair from Aston Villa hours prior to their game with Hearts.

Sinclair came on in the game and of course went on to score the winning goal.

He ran the length of the pitch to net from a brilliant Leigh Griffiths cross at Tynecastle.

Sinclair’s goal certainly impressed former Rangers boss Alex McLeish.

Speaking on Sky Sports News HQ today (09/08/16) he made it clear he believed the deal was good for Sinclair, as he gets to work with old coach Rodgers once again:

“It’s a great goal. He ran the whole length of the pitch to support that break.

“I think he has been missing a little bit of the father figure type touch of the likes of Brendan Rodgers being his coach again.”

Sinclair enjoyed the best years of his career so far under the management of the new Celtic boss at Swansea City.

He scored 36 goals in 91 games for Swansea under the guidance of Rodgers.

Celtic fans will now be hoping that Sinclair can continue to be a hit at Celtic Park this season.
