Newcastle United's Adam Armstrong in action
Armstrong wants to play an important role for Newcastle in the Championship this season and fire them back to the Premier League.
The 19-year-old striker wants to score goals for the Magpies during the 2015-16 campaign, just as Carroll did back in the 2009-10 season.
The 27-year-old England international striker, now on the books of London outfit West Ham, played an important part in Newcastle winning promotion from the Championship to the Premier League in 2009-10.
West Ham's Andy Carroll celebrates
Armstrong has stated his intention to remain at Newcastle this season and play his part in the Magpies’ quest for automatic promotion to the Premier League.
“If I get the chance I will take it,” Armstrong told The Chronicle. “It’s the same for every lad around here.
“When Andy Carroll was here that’s what he done, he grasped his chance when the club went into the Championship. I was only young then and I was a supporter, I was gutted.
“The only thing we can do now is work really hard and do our best every week to get back up. Things are looking good for all of us if we continue to train well.”

Armstrong is a very talented and promising young striker, but it is unlikely that he will get too many chances for Newcastle in the Championship this season.
The England Under-19 international striker has been linked with a move away from the Magpies in the summer transfer window.
According to The Scottish Sun, Scottish Premiership outfit Rangers want to sign the teenage striker on loan from Newcastle this summer.
