Aleksandar Mitrovic has been linked with a move away from Newcastle United in the summer transfer window.

Newcastle United do not want to sell Aleksandar Mitrovic in the summer transfer window, according to The Shields Gazette.

The Mirror reported at the weekend that the Championship club are ready to sell Mitrovic this summer.

It was reported by the British newspaper that Newcastle manager Rafael Benitez cannot trust the striker.

The 21-year-old is currently serving a four-match ban after being sent off against Tottenham Hotspur on the final day of the 2015-16 Premier League campaign.

However, The Shields Gazette has now claimed that Newcastle do not intend to part company with the Serbia international striker.

According to the report, the youngster is firmly in the plans of Newcastle manager Benitez this season.

Mitrovic joined Newcastle from Belgian giants Anderlecht in the summer of 2015 for a transfer fee reported by BBC Sport to be worth £13 million.

The Serbia international striker scored nine goals and created 30 chances in 34 Premier League appearances for the Magpies last season.

Newcastle got relegated from the Premier League at the end of the 2015-16 campaign.
