Celtic opened their defence of the Scottish Premiership title with a 2-1 away win over Hearts on Sunday afternoon at Tynecastle.

The Bhoys were already in high spirits after beating Astana in the Champions League, and new manager Brendan Rodgers managed to pick up his first league wins as Celtic boss with a late victory over Hearts.

Winger James Forrest had put Celtic in front with a well placed strike after just eight minutes, but Hearts equalised when Jamie Walker picked himself up to score in controversial fashion from the penalty spot.

With time ticking down at Tynecastle, Celtic substitute Scott Sinclair – who had only signed for the club from Aston Villa on Sunday morning – made an instant impact in the famous green and white hoops by converting Leigh Griffiths' cross from close range to hand Celtic three points.

The winger, 27, had been a Celtic player for a matter of hours before snatching the winner against Hearts, and took to Twitter to state that he's not only happy to have joined the Bhoys, he's ecstatic to have already opened his account – and thanked Griffiths who his superb assist.

Finally, fellow attacker Moussa Dembele was delighted to start the season with a victory, and to give the travelling Celtic fans a win in their first league game of the season.
