Horst Hrubesch, coach of Germany’s Olympic Team, has criticised Arsenal for not using youngster Serge Gnabry, speaking to Sky Sports.

The 21-year-old has been a star of the games so far, scoring three goals for his country, the latest coming in the 3-3 draw with South Korea on Sunday.

He is a part of the squad despite having struggled for regular game time in recent seasons.

Since making his debut in 2012 he has made just 10 Premier League appearances, with last season seeing manage 12 minutes during a loan spell at West Bromwich Albion.

It has been a surprising fall for him given the form he showed when he first broke onto the scene, but Hrubesch believes the blame is firmly at Arsenal’s door.

“He’s shown what he can do to everybody. I’m just annoyed that he is never shown this faith by his club,” he told Sky Sports.

Perhaps at this stage, a permanent exit would make more sense for Gnabry given he is unlikely to feature much for Arsenal in future.

The right wing position is well occupied at the Emirates, and the emergence on Alex Iwobi will only serve to have pushed him further down the pecking order at this moment in time.
