Tottenham Hotspur star Erik Lamela has told Tuttomercatoweb, as translated by Football Italia, that he hopes that AS Roma win Serie A this coming season.

Lamela is a former Roma player and was quite successful during his spell at the Italian club.

During the 2012-13 season, the Argentina international, who can play as an attacking midfielder or as a winger, scored 15 goals and created 56 chances in 33 Serie A appearances for the Giallorossi, according to Squawka.

The 24-year-old attacker left Roma for Tottenham in the summer of 2013, but it appears that he still has a soft spot for the Italian outfit.

Juventus have dominated Italian football over the past few years and will be favourites to clinch the Scudetto yet again this coming season.

As for Tottenham, the North London outfit will be aiming to challenge for the Premier League title during the 2016-17 campaign.

Lamela, who enjoyed a good season in 2015-16, will be hoping to take his game to the next level for Spurs in 2016-17.

The Argentine scored five goals and created 75 chances in 34 Premier League matches for Tottenham last season.
