Former Celtic and Arsenal forward Charlie Nicholas has suggested to Sky Sports that Everton manager Ronald Koeman should make Gerard Deulofeu a central part of his plans this coming season.

Nicholas has included Deulofeu in his Sky Sports Fantasy Football team for the opening weekend of the 2016-17 Premier League campaign.

The former Scotland international rates the 22-year-old winger highly and has advised Everton boss Koeman to make him a key player of his team this coming season.

“This lad excited us and then got dropped quite quickly by Roberto Martinez, but I think Ronald Koeman will love him,” Nicholas told Sky Sports about Deulofeu.

“If Koeman wants to make Everton a real attacking force then Deulofeu should be central to his plans.”

Deulofeu is a very talented and promising young winger, and Koeman should make the Spaniard a key figure in his team.

The Spain international winger did not have a great 2015-16 campaign, but he was very good on occasions.

The former Barcelona youngster scored two goals and created 34 chances in 26 Premier League appearances for the Toffees during the 2015-16 campaign.

Everton will kick off their 2016-17 Premier League campaign with a home match against Tottenham Hotspur this coming Saturday. The Merseyside outfit will head into the game at Goodison Park with confidence.
