According to a report from Sunday’s print edition of La Provence and later repeated online by Madeinfoot.com, Tottenham Hotspur’s alleged interest in reigniting a deal for Sofiane Boufal was merely a clever ploy from Spurs chairman Daniel Levy to get a deal for Georges-Kevin N’Koudou over the line.

The latter has long been linked with a summer switch to White Hart Lane but both the story and the potential deal has been dragging on for weeks with no sign of completion.

That could now be about to change, with the latest report suggesting Clinton N’Jie could complete his own protracted move to Marseille on Monday with N’Koudou heading in the other direction.

That said, Tottenham fans that have been forced to wait so long may not be holding their breath.

Speaking of N’Jie, Marseille manager Franck Passi has been speaking to Foot Sur 7 about the progress of that and other moves the Ligue 1 side are planning to complete this summer.

“It is true that we work every day to try to close the files, not only Clinton N’Jie,” he said.

“The objective is to try to have a team ready before the end of this month.

The Cameroon international struggled for game time at Tottenham last season, in part due to injury, but while some Spurs fans feel it is too early to write him off he could have played his last match for them if things go well on his return to France.
