Southampton lost the services of key players such as Sadio Mane and Victor Wanyama this summer, but it has to be said that the Saints have brought in very good replacements for the departed duo in the form of Nathan Redmond and Pierre-Emile Höjbjerg.
Graziano Pelle was another important player whom Southampton were unable to hold onto and the South Coast based club are yet to replace the Italian international.
Manager Claude Puel is currently believed to be actively looking for a new striker to replace Pelle and now according to reports from Tutto Meracto Web, revelations have been made that Southampton are interested in signing Napoli attacker Gabbiadini.
The Italian international earned a reputation as one of the most promising young strikers to have emerged out of Serie A in recent times following his fine spell with Sampdoria, and Napoli splashed around £12 million to secure his services during the summer of 2015.
However, Gabbiadini has been unable to establish himself as regular starter at the Stadio San Paolo and as a result it is widely expected that the 24-year-old will be leaving the Serie A giants this summer.
Given his quality, a number of clubs are unsurprisingly interested in signing Gabbiadini and now claims have been made that Southampton are ready to make a swoop for the former Juventus player.
The Saints have allegedly already established contacts with Napoli over the signing of the striker and the Premier League side seem intent on getting the deal done as soon as possible.
