Sunderland are interested in signing Jeff Hendrick from Derby County in the summer transfer window, according to The Mirror.

It has been reported by the British newspaper that the Premier League outfit are monitoring the development on the future of the midfielder.

According to The Mirror, Burnley are interested in securing the services of Hendrick this summer.

It has been reported that the Clarets, who got promoted to the Premier League at the end of last season, have offered £7 million to Derby for the midfielder.

However, according to the report, the Rams want more than £10m to part company with the 24-year-old.

“Dyche had offered £3million for the Republic of Ireland midfielder which was considered derisory by Derby who want more than £10million for the Irishman,” states the report in The Mirror.

“Burnley are now believed to have offered £7million for the midfielder but that's still well short of Derby's valuation with Sunderland also watching developments closely.”

Hendrick has been on the books of Derby his entire career so far and is regarded as one of the best midfielders in the Championship.

The 24-year-old scored two goals and created 28 chances in 32 Championship appearances for the Rams last season.

In four appearances for the Republic of Ireland at the 2016 European Championship in France this summer, Hendrick created three chances, had a pass accuracy of 77% and a shot accuracy of 50%, and won eight headers, two dribbles and two tackles, according to Squawka.com.

Hendrick featured in Derby’s Championship game against Brighton & Hove Albion at the iPro Stadium on Saturday afternoon, which ended in a goalless draw (see his stats below).
