Former Rangers striker Nacho Novo has recently made an eye-catching move to Irish club Glentoran and has been speaking to the press there about his switch.

During his interview with the Belfast Telegraph he spoke about a former Rangers team-mate of his in the form of current Southampton midfielder Steven Davis.

Novo had some massive praise for the Saints star.

He had this to say about Davis:

“For me Steven Davis is a player for Manchester United or Liverpool.

“I would even he say he could play at Real Madrid or Atletico Madrid.

“I think he is underrated in English football.

“I would say Steven Davis is one of the best midfielders in the English Premier Division.”

Quite a claim from the Spaniard, who clearly thinks highly of the Southampton stalwart.

There is no doubt that the Northern Ireland international is one of the more under-rated players in the Premier League.

His form for Southampton last season was magnificent and he fully deserved his regular place in the Southampton starting XI.

The 31-year-old has really proven himself a late bloomer lately and featured 38 times for the Saints last season, scoring five goals, as Southampton qualified for the Europa League on the final day of the Premier League season.

Once again he will be hoping to play a major role in the Southampton side under new manager Claude Puel.
