France's Paul Pogba

The longest running transfer saga of the summer transfer window appears to be coming to an end as Paul Pogba is set for a medical at Manchester United.

According to the Mirror, Juventus have told them that they have given Pogba permission to undergo a medical after the two clubs agreed upon a fee, and United later released a brief statement via their own website stating that fact.

It is expected he will return to his former club in a £100 million deal, smashing the world transfer record.

That fee is a shocking one to say the least, with many questioning if Pogba is worth it at this stage of his career.

However, it appears United are happy to pay it as they believe they are set to make a fortune in marketing from the midfielder.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Red Devils chiefs are confident they can make as much as £39 million from advertising their new man, taking his transfer to a more respectable £61 million.

One man who will not be at Old Trafford next season is Portugal star of the future Renato Sanches.

He made a move to Bayern Munich earlier this summer, despite United having seemingly led the race for him for some time.

And quoted by the Mirror, Jose Mourinho has admitted that had he arrived sooner, he would have fought hard for Sanches’s signature.

“I arrived [too ] late. I signed in May and we started talking a week before, but we were completely out of the process. If I had arrived earlier, I would have fought for him,” he said.
