Owen Coyle's first competitive game as Blackburn boss saw his new side lose 4-1 to Norwich City.

Rovers were 3-0 down after 25 minutes, with Norwich's goals coming from Jacob Murphy, Wes Hoolahan and Cameron Jerome.

It was 4-0 within an hour at Ewood Park, as Steven Naismith added more gloss to the scoreline in the 58th minute. Blackburn managed to score a consolation before the end, with new signing Anthony Stokes getting on the score-sheet on his debut for the Lancashire club, after signing on a free from Celtic.

Alex Neil and his men in yellow could not have asked for a better beginning to life in the Championship, whereas it was a horror start for Blackburn.

Although the Canaries are one of the favourites for promotion, making it a difficult opener for Coyle, Blackburn's dismal performance did little to show that they will be a force over the coming season. In fact, it suggested how difficult it is going to be for Coyle's side, who finished last season in 15th.
