Former Queens Park Rangers and Crystal Palace manager Ian Holloway said on Sky Sports 1 on Friday evening (August 5, 2016) that Aston Villa summer signing Ross McCormack is good enough to play with Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
Holloway made the comment in the build-up to the Championship game between Fulham and Newcastle United at Craven Cottage in London on Friday evening.
Barcelona's Lionel Messi
“This kid's brain works like the best players in the world,” said Holloway about McCormack on Sky Sports 1 on Friday evening (August 5, 2016).
“He could play with any one of them. He could play with Messi, he could play with Ronaldo. He is a genius in his head.”
Villa recently signed McCormack from Championship rivals Fulham in the summer transfer window.
The 29-year-old striker is a proven goalscorer in the Championship and will be a key player for Villa this season.
However, claiming that McCormack is good enough to play with Barcelona star Messi and Real Madrid ace Ronaldo is quite bold.
As good as the former Rangers and Leeds United striker is, the Scotland international has never played in the Premier League, and one must ask why.
Villa will kick off their 2016-17 Championship campaign with an away game against Sheffield Wednesday on Sunday evening.
