Glasgow Rangers fans have thanked him, claims Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers.

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has revealed to The Scottish Sun that Rangers fans have thanked him.

Rodgers has revealed that Rangers supporters have come up to him to thank him for taking the Celtic managerial job.

The former Liverpool and Swansea City boss was appointed as the Celtic manager in the summer following the departure of Ronny Deila at the end of last season.

“I’ve settled in really well and my family’s up here,” Rodgers told The Scottish Sun. “My relations come up, back and forward. So far I’ve been able to hide out of the way! That changes, I’m sure.

“People have been brilliant — everyone. I have had Rangers supporters come up to me thanking me for coming to Scotland."

Rodgers is a brilliant coach and a very good manager, and his appointment as the Celtic manager has been good for Scottish football. There is now more interest in the Scottish Premiership and in the Bhoys.

Celtic are one of the biggest clubs in the world, and the return of Rangers to the Scottish top flight is only going to make them better as a team.

The Bhoys will kick off their 2016-17 Scottish Premiership campaign with an away game against Heart of Midlothian on Sunday afternoon.

The Glasgow giants will head into the match against Hearts at at the Tynecastle Stadium in Edinburgh with confidence and as favourites.

Rangers played out a 1-1 draw with Hamilton Academical at Ibrox in the Scottish Premiership on Saturday.
