Tony Xia provides transfer update on Twitter, sends message to Aston Villa fans

Tony Xia urges the Aston Villa fans to support the team against Sheffield Wednesday on Sunday.

Aston Villa chairman Dr. Tony Xia has taken to social networking site Twitter to give an update on the club’s transfer situation.

Xia has revealed that Villa plan to sign seven or eight players in the summer transfer window.

The Villa chairman has also underlined the importance of selling players before making signings.

The Chinese businessman has sent a message to the Villa fans regarding the game against Sheffield Wednesday this weekend.

The Villans will kick off their 2016-17 Championship campaign with an away match against Wednesday on Sunday evening.

Xia wants the Villa fans to support the team against the Owls at the Hillsborough Stadium.

Villa have been quite busy in the summer transfer window so far.

The Championship club have signed defender Tommy Elphick, goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini, midfielder Aaron Tshibola and striker Ross McCormack from Bournemouth, Hellas Verona, Reading, and Fulham respectively.

Kieran Richardson, Charles N’Zogbia, Jose Angel Crespo, Brad Guzan, Idrissa Gana Gueye, and Ciaran Clark have all left Villa Park on a permanent basis.

Villa will be aiming to finish in the top six of the Championship this season.
