Former player and crowd favourite Peter Lovenkrands has taken to social networking site Twitter in order to comment on Rangers’ opening Scottish Premiership draw with Hamilton Academical at Ibrox.

The Gers finally made their return to the top-flight after a four-year absence, yet it was an occasion of mixed emotions as they came back from a goal down to draw level but couldn’t pick up all three points.

Hamilton took the lead through Alistair Crawford somewhat against the run of play, and it took Rangers more than 30 minutes to find an equaliser as Martyn Waghorn opened his account for the season with a neat finish.

With just under half an hour to play, many felt Mark Warburton’s men would go on to collect all three points yet Hamilton defended well, restricting the hosts to half chances and missed opportunities.

Taking to social networking site Twitter, Lovenkrands picked out Joey Barton as his man-of-the-match and while admitting it wasn’t the result most at Ibrox wanted, there were positives to be had.

It may take time for Rangers to adjust to being back in the top-flight, but there were undoubtedly some positives to be had from the game and Warburton will be eager to move straight on to the next one.

Gers face Peterhead in the League Cup round of 16 on Tuesday before travelling to Dundee next weekend in what will be their first Scottish Premiership away game of the season.
