Rangers legend John Brown has told STV that if Rangers win the title this season it will be one of the biggest achievements in the club’s history.

The Gers secured their return to the top flight last season as they secured the Scottish Championship title.

They have spent this summer strengthening heavily, with nine new signings arriving at Ibrox so far.

Among them have been some impressive captures, with the likes of Joey Barton and Niko Kranjcar representing big signings for the club.

There is now a hope that they can challenge Celtic for the title in their first season back, and Brown says if they were to win the title it would represent one of the biggest achievements in their history.

“It would be bigger than any titles I won through nine in a row, bigger than anything I achieved,” he told STV.

“He [Warburton] has brought boys in that nobody knew of and they’re catching the eye, they’re hungry young players. If Rangers win the title this year it will be on the biggest titles in its history.”

It now remains to be seen whether Rangers can challenge for the title this season, with the pressure very much on their shoulders.

The work they have done in the transfer market so far shows that they are certainly keen to give a title push their best efforts.

Much will rest on how successful their signings prove to be, with Warburton likely hoping the likes of Barton and Kranjcar can lead them to success.
