Harry Redknapp has told the Mirror that Arsene Wenger’s time in charge at Arsenal will come to an end if he fails to get them into the top four this season.

Last season was a highly disappointing one for the Gunners as they fell away in the title race, despite having led the table at the beginning of 2016.

Their disappointment was added to by the fact that it was Leicester City who went on to secure the most unlikely of titles victories.

This season is likely to be an even greater challenge, with Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea all under new big name managers and eyeing first place.

The fight for the top four is likely to be a fierce one and Redknapp says if Arsenal fail to make it in then Wenger will end up leaving the Emirates.

“Arsenal have not been out the top four for 20 years,” he told the Mirror.

“If Arsenal don’t make the top four, it is absolutely Arsene Wenger’s last season as manager. That will be the end, they have got to make the top four.”

If Arsenal are to challenge for a top four spot or better this season, they will surely have to make more signings before the end of the transfer window.

So far Granit Xhaka is the only major arrival at the club, leaving the Gunners looking short given the money that their main competitors have spent.
