The former Leeds player is pleased with the new signings.
Kemar Roofe and Kyle Bartley in action
Leeds United get their Championship campaign underway tomorrow with a trip to Loftus Road to take on QPR and former player Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink.
The game is the beginning of what Leeds fans will hope to be an era of success under the guidance of Garry Monk and they have been busy in the transfer market this summer building up to the campaign.
David Prutton - Leeds United
One man who has been impressed by the efforts of his former club is David Prutton. The former Leeds midfielder, who spent three years at the club, now works as a pundit for Sky Sports and told Sky Sports News HQ yesterday (05/08/2016) how impressed he was with the summer signings – in particular Kemar Roofe:
“They’re excited all the time Leeds fans no matter what they go through," he said. "Always tremendously positive and sometimes it’s gallows humour.
“But you look at someone like Kemar Roofe, who was fantastic last season, and the kind of goals he was scoring were deserving of a higher level.
“Across the board they’ve got good experience in Robert Green, Kyle Bartley’s worked with Garry Monk before. They are all players that know the league and how the manager works.”
Roofe, a £3 million arrival from Oxford United, has certainly caught the eye in pre-season and is being hotly-tipped by Leeds fans to be a big hit in the 2016-17 campaign.
He scored 26 goals in 48 games for Oxford last season and was named the League One Player of the Year – so Leeds fans are right to be excited about the talented forward.
Meanwhile Rob Green strengthens the goalkeeping position and Kyle Bartley will be dying for regular first-team football.
Leeds fans might be justified in feeling optimistic at last.
