According to reports from Foot Mercato, Crystal Palace are interested in making a surprise swoop for Norwich City midfielder Youssouf Mulumbu.

Mulumbu struggled for regular first-team football after joining Norwich City from West Bromwich Albion at the start of last season, and as the midfielder is clearly surplus to requirements under manager Alex Neil it is widely expected that he will be leaving Carrow Road this summer.

In order to reduce their wage bill, Norwich are said to be ready to allow Mulumbu to leave on a free transfer and according to reports from L’Equipe, claims had been made that the midfielder is wanted by French giants Marseille.

Marseille are likely to be facing competition in their pursuit of Mulumbu though as it has been reported by Foot Mercato that even Premier League outfit Crystal Palace are interested in making a swoop for the DR Congo international.

The links with Palace certainly comes as a surprise as the Eagles already possess a plethora of options at the middle of the park.

Nonetheless, Mulumbu is a very experienced player in the Premier League and he could well prove to be a decent signing for Palace, especially considering the fact that he will be available on a free transfer.
