Tottenham Hotspur finished off their pre-season campaign in some style this week as they thrashed Italian side Inter Milan 6-1 in Norway.

It was a fantastic performance from Spurs with their internationals back in action and new signing Vincent Janssen really impressed.

The Dutchman scored in the game and performed well throughout.

Speaking about his performance on ITV4 (05/08/2016) former Spurs striker Clive Allen had plenty of good things to say about the new Spurs striker.

Allen, who scored 60 league goals in 105 appearances for Spurs and also acted as caretaker manager for the club on two occasions, had this to say about Janssen:

“He looks to me like an old-fashioned centre-forward. One of the most pleasing things for the manager is that you’ve signed a new player, a goalscorer, you want him to get his first goal. It doesn’t matter how it comes or where it comes from.

““For me (his goal) is a real striking instinct from Janssen. Janssen can lead the line. I think that’s something perhaps without Harry Kane in the team that Tottenham have struggled to find.

“They’ve found a man now, with his physicality, with his back to goal, he can link the play up and I think Harry Kane can play off him. Really positive signs.”

The Dutch striker joined for a fee reported by Sky Sports to be in the region of £18.6 million after an impressive season in the Eredivisie with AZ Alkmaar – in which he scored 27 goals in 34 appearances.

His performance against Inter Milan was certainly encouraging for Tottenham fans. He offers something slightly different to Kane and clearly looks like he could play as part of a pair with the England international.

Tottenham might have just bagged themselves a gem.
