Predicted Derby line-up to face Brighton: Pearson to make key changes

Here is how we predict Derby County and Brighton and Hove Albion line up this weekend:

To be played on Saturday 6th August 2016 at 08:00. Venue: iPro Stadium, Derby

Odds: Derby 11/10, Draw 12/5, Brighton 3/1

The Championship finally gets underway on Friday evening with Newcastle United travelling to Fulham, but for Derby County and Brighton the campaign starts with a normal Saturday 3pm kick-off.

The two sides both suffered play-off heartache last season, crashing out of the semi-finals after leaving themselves too much to do following disappointing first-leg defeats.

Not much has changed at Brighton since the end of last season, as boss Chris Hughton has managed to keep the majority of his players and strengthened the Seagulls with the additions of Oliver Norwood and Glenn Murray.

As for the Rams, they are the only Championship club not to make a new signing this summer as newly-appointed boss Nigel Pearson keeps faith in the squad already in place.

The East Midlands side have a wealth of midfield options, yet Pearson’s preference to play a variation of 4-4-2 has raised questions due to the lack of genuine wide players at the club.

Both clubs are tipped for at least another top-six finish this season, and down the line the upcoming fixture at the iPro could ultimately play a significant part in determining the final league positions.

The last two meetings between these sides finished 2-2 and 1-1 respectively, so here is how we expect the two sides to line up in what should be another very close encounter.

Derby to play in a 4-4-1-1 formation, while Brighton opt for a 4-4-2.
