Former Queens Park Rangers and Crystal Palace manager Ian Holloway has told Sky Sports that Newcastle United will win against Fulham on Friday evening.

Newcastle will take on Fulham away from home at Craven Cottage in London in their opening game of the 2016-17 Championship campaign.

The Magpies will head into the match as favourites, and Holloway believes that Rafael Benitez’s side will pick up all three points from the encounter.

“Newcastle could blow this league wide apart,” Holloway told Sky Sports while predicting a 3-1 win for Newcastle.

“There seems a strong unity there between the owners, Rafa Benitez and the supporters - that's pretty unusual after a relegation.

“They've made some incredible and smart signings and lads like Dwight Gayle, Matt Ritchie and Grant Hanley will be raring to go.

“Fulham look in trouble here. They're losing their best players: Moussa Dembele and now Ross McCormack - I'm fearful for them. I'm sure Newcastle will be a very popular bet.”

Newcastle have the strongest team in the Championship and are hot favourites to win the title this season.

Although Benitez and his players should be confident of a win at Craven Cottage, they cannot get complacent.

Fulham may not have a great team, but the Cottagers can spring a surprise, especially as they are at home on Friday evening.

An early goal for the home side could make things tricky for Newcastle, who got relegated from the Premier League at the end of the 2015-16 campaign.

If Newcastle score first, then the Magpies should be able to wrap up all three points with ease.
