Newcastle United manager Rafa Benitez has shared to BBC Newcastle, quoted by the Chronicle, what he has told Ayoze Perez’s agent about the rumoured interest from Barcelona.

The La Liga champions are thought to be in the market for a striker this summer as they seek to find back up to Lionel Messi, Neymar and Luis Suarez.

They have reportedly drawn up a list of potential targets, and according to the Daily Mail, Magpies forward Ayoze Perez is among those being considered.

The newspaper claimed that Sporting Director Robert Fernandez is a fan and was considering a move for his services, although it was felt Perez would turn down any offer.

And now Benitez has revealed that he has told Perez’s agent the fee that would tempt him into selling his striker this summer.

“The other day when we started talking about Barcelona in the media, his agent was across here and I knew him from Tenerife,” he told BBC Newcastle, quoted by the Chronicle.

“I said to him: Listen, you are the best agent in the world so if you can get an offer from Barcelona for this figure then I will put Ayoze on a plane and send him straight there.”

It now remains to be seen if Perez does stay at Newcastle should Barcelona make a serious bid for his services.

There is no denying that an offer from the Catalans would be tempting to say the least given their annual challenge for trophies both domestically and in Europe.

However, Perez will know that first team football would be hard to come by at the Nou Camp and it would not be surprising to see him staying because of that factor should the move be offered.
