The Magpies have signed eight players so far this summer.
The Magpies have been busy this summer, bringing in no fewer than eight signings so far.
The majority of the players they have brought in have been targeted because of their Championship experience, something the squad was lacking in before this summer’s transfer window.
Because of the work they have done so far, many pundits and neutrals are backing them to run away with the division and seal an instant return to the Premier League, as they did in their previous Championship campaign in 2009-10.
Warnock is one of those voices, saying that Rafa Benitez has spent well.
“They are [the best team] with the players they’ve bought,” he told talkSPORT.
“They are building it right down the spine. They have spent well and I think they have bought players for the Championship, which I think, is what you have got to do.”
It now remains to be seen if Newcastle United can secure a return to the Premier League this season.
The squad that Benitez has assembled is certainly capable of doing so, with the experience they have of the division likely to stand them in good stead.
It will be interesting to see how they deal with that pressure though, with nearly all of the teams in the division eyeing the Magpies as a big scalp they want to take.
