Kevin Nolan has told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast, which was broadcast on TalkSPORT on 5th August, that Newcastle United’s players have told him that they love working with Rafael Benitez.

Nolan still has strong ties to Newcastle, after enjoying a spell there during his playing days.

Nolan was part of the Newcastle squad which got promoted from the Championship last time they were in the division, back in 2009/10.

And he is hoping that the current batch of Magpies players can be similarly successful this time around.

“He’s recruited well. Looking at it, they’re going to be strong. They have fantastic support,” Nolan said, when asked about Newcastle’s chances this season

“Speaking to the boys up there, they love what Rafael Benitez is doing up there.

“Hopefully they can turn that corner and get back to what we had a few years ago.”

Newcastle are currently the heavy favourites to be promoted this term, following serious investment this summer.

Newcastle have spent around £45 million on new players, with seven signings made.

The Magpies have managed to bring in players who have already excelled in the Championship, such as Dwight Gayle, Matt Ritchie and Mohamed Diame.

Newcastle start their campaign later this evening, with a match against Fulham at Craven Cottage.
