Tadic is in line for a more central role this season.
Southampton manager Claude Puel
Puel seems set on playing a system with a diamond shaped midfield and he would appear to want Tadic to be the man to play behind the forward line.
The recently appointed Saints boss is quoted in the Daily Echo, saying: “I think Tadic is interesting in his position because he can turn and go quickly,” Puel said of the Serbia international, who has one assist from three games in that position during pre-season.

“He can give good passes for the striker. I think it’s a good position for him. He wants to make progress all the time in the games step by step.
“I’m sure that Dusan is going to make a very good season.”

Tadic has shown he is a very technically able footballer that can create space well and be a provider for other forwards, and can contribute on the goals front. He currently averages around one in six in Premier League games and that's may be one area of his game he feels he can improve on - moving from a wide area into a more central position could help him in that respect.
The 27-year-old can be hard for opponents to knock off the ball and if given space then he could be very dangerous for anyone to deal with. Of course, his success in the position will depend on the teammates around him, but he certainly has the capability to play the role effectively.
