Brighton & Hove Albion manager Chris Hughton has told The Sun (print edition, page 58, Friday, August 5, 2016) that he is disappointed with Alex Pritchard.

Pritchard joined Championship club Norwich on a four-year contract from Premier League outfit Tottenham Hotspur on Thursday.

The 23-year-old attacking midfielder was also the subject of interest from Championship rivals Brighton.

According to The Sun (print edition, page 58, Friday, August 5, 2016), the Seagulls had agreed terms with Pritchard and his agent.

“The disappointment is with the player,” Hughton told The Sun (print edition, page 58, Friday, August 5, 2016). "Very disappointing because we did have an agreement with all parties. Not nice.”

Pritchard himself has revealed that he had held talks with Brighton, telling Sky Sports that it was not an easy choice.

The attacking midfielder is a talented player, and he would have been a good signing for Brighton.

The former England Under-21 international attacking midfielder knows the Championship well, having featured in the division with Brentford during the 2014-15 season.

Pritchard scored 11 goals and created as many as 111 chances in 46 Championship appearances during that loan spell at Brentford.

Norwich got relegated from the Premier League at the end of last season and will feature in the Championship during the 2016-17 campaign.
