Villa start their season with a match against Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough on Sunday.
McCormack is expected to make his debut in the fixture, but he is under no illusions as to how difficult it will be.
“It doesn’t come any tougher,” McCormack said, when discussing a trip to Hillsborough.
“That’s one of the hardest away games since I’ve been in this league. The fans are great, and they have a really good team - Barry Bannan and Gary Hooper, guys like that. It’s going to be tough.”
Wednesday had one of the best home records in the Championship last term, and they proved very difficult to beat.
The strength of the Owls’ form at Hillsborough, where they lost just two matches, was one of the main reasons behind their promotion push.
Wednesday are considered amongst the favourites to finish in the top two in the Championship this season, but Villa are also tipped to be challenging for promotion.
The Claret and Blues have added four new players to their ranks since relegation, with McCormack’s arrival being the most eye catching.
McCormack is expected to start for Villa against Hillsborough, with fellow new recruits Tommy Elphick, Pierluigi Gollini and Aaron Tshibola also all in line to make their debuts.
