Arsenal fans were pleased with the Olympics action yesterday, as summer signing Takuma Asano scored for Japan against Nigeria.

But whilst a new talent at Arsenal shone, an older prospect also had a night to remember.

Serge Gnabry came on for Germany against Mexico in the 28th minute after an injury to Schalke midfielder Leon Goretzka.

He went on to shine in a fantastic performance for his country.

He scored a goal reminiscent of Thierry Henry’s v Leeds United on his Arsenal comeback and was the biggest threat throughout the second-half for the Germans.

Gnabry has of course struggled to make the breakthrough at Arsenal despite his obvious talent.

The Arsenal talent spent the first half of last season on loan at West Bromwich Albion in what was an ill-fated spell – in which he played just three times and became cast aside by Tony Pulis.

In the previous season Gnabry did not play a single game for Arsenal, after suffering a serious knee injury.

But after this performance there is still no doubting his immense talent and perhaps Arsene Wenger should consider giving him another chance.

Here is some fan reaction to the Arsenal talent’s performance…
