Bookmakers BETVICTOR have a clear favourite in the running to achieve promotion to the Premier League from the Championship this season - Newcastle United.

Magpies boss Rafa Benitez has been extremely active in the transfer window, bringing in eight new faces to St James' Park, and that is surely a major contributing factor in BETVICTOR pricing them as 4/7 favourites to achieve promotion.

Norwich City are second on the list at 9/4, which is perhaps somewhat surprisingly with the Canaries having made just two outfield signings in Alex Pritchard and Sergi Canos.

The Canaries are followed in the betting by Midlands clubs Aston Villa and Derby County at 3/1, with BETVICTOR cutting the odds on the Villans after they completed the £12 million signing of Ross McCormack from Fulham.

Brighton & Hove Albion were unlucky to miss out on automatic promotion last term, and are fifth favourites to achieve promotion at 7/2.

The popular bookmakers then place Wolverhampton Wanderers and Sheffield Wednesday joint-sixth in the list of favourites to be promoted to the Premier League, both at 4/1.

Wolves finished 14th last term, but with new ambitious owners at the club combined with the appointment of Walter Zenga, the bookies obviously feel that they are a club on the up.

The Championship is such a tough league from which to extricate yourself that it remains impossible to predict who will actually gain promotion, but according to the bookies, the teams mentioned above have a better chance than the rest.
