West Ham began their new era in the Olympic Stadium with a 3-0 win over Slovenian side Domzale.

The Hammers progressed to the next round of the Europa League with the win, with Cheikhou Kouyate netting twice and Sofiane Feghouli rounding off the scoring.

One thing missing of course from a superb night in east London was the finishing touch of a top class striker West Ham have been fruitlessly chasing all summer.

As it was, Enner Valencia, in his third season for the club, was selected up front as a lone striker and failed to hit the back of the net.

Valencia's struggles in front of goal may define his game, but it cannot be disputed that he was putting in the effort.

The Ecuadorian lasted all 90 minutes and worked hard to get his teammates into the game and get into dangerous positions, but he could not take advantage of his opportunities.

The display is not likely to deter West Ham from their striker chase, with Valencia surely better as a bit part player or as one of a pairing up front.

His performance split the opinion of supporters, with some frustrated with his continual struggles in front of goal, but others more appreciative of his efforts.

Here is a look at how West Ham fans reacted to his display...
