Aston Villa owner Tony Xia has insisted that Jordan Ayew will not be departing this summer amidst links to West Ham.

The likes of the Sun have suggested that the Hammers are keen to bring the 24-year old to London but Xia took to Twitter to strongly claim that he will be going nowhere:

Idrissa Gueye recently joined Everton after his release clause was activated and fans will be glad to hear that a similar scenario will be avoided in the case of Ayew.

The Villans have sold Ciaran Clark, Idrissa Gueye and Brad Guzan so far this summer, while Carles Gil has left on loan and several others have been released.

On the incoming front, Roberto Di Matteo has added Tommy Elphick, Pierluigi Gollini, Aaron Tshibola and Ross McCormack and Xia insists there are more to follow:

Villa fans will be keen for new arrivals, with the futures of several of their first-team squad still uncertain.

The likes of Micah Richards and Joleon Lescott may not be at the club come the start of September, and with many of their Championship rivals doing excellent business in the transfer market, Villa must ensure they do not fall behind.

Xia has divided opinion amongst fans but his transparency and accessibility on Twitter is a refreshing change in the typically secretive world of football club ownership.
