Sunderland manager David Moyes has made a frank admission that he may not get all the transfer business done that he'd like to between now and when the transfer window shuts at the end of this month.

Moyes has only recently succeeded Sam Allardyce in the hotseat at the Stadium of Light, with no signings made prior to the Scot's arrival as Allardyce was appointed England manager.

Steven Pienaar, who worked with Moyes at Everton, is currently training with Sunderland and could be offered a contract, but there's still a desire for a further five players to be brought in.

The Black Cats boss told the Sunderland Echo: “Ideally we would get our business done quicker, but I have to be honest and say I doubt very much that we will get all our business done before the start of the season.

“We need to add quality, but we also need to add things that can be pushing on.

“Am I going to get all that in the next two or three weeks?

“Probably not, but I’ll do the best I can.”

Therefore, Moyes has to prioritise which areas of the squad are in the most urgent need of strengthening as well as players who can make an immediate impact at the club, as the Sunderland Echo's piece points out that they are down to 16 senior players.

Investing in a player that can always find the net is never bad thing while Moyes will want to ensure that his side is organised and solid at the back - which could mean that nearly every area of the squad is in need of some reinforcements. It will be a case of whether the right player can be identified and if they can make an immediate impact at the club.
