Steve Evans has told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast Show, which was broadcast on TalkSPORT on 4th August, that Sam Byram always speaks positively about West Ham United boss Slaven Bilic when they have discussions.
Former Leeds United boss Evans was the manager who sold Byram to West Ham last January, and they remain in contact.
Evans says that Byram is enjoying his time with the Hammers, and he is a huge fan of Bilic’s management.
“I’ve had a few chats with Sam Byram, who really, really thinks highly of Slaven Bilic,” Evans said.
“I have a lot of respect for Slaven. I’ve only met him once. I know the people behind the scenes have been critical of other styles and managers, but he has allowed them to manage their departments.”
Byram’s departure from Leeds was a major blow during Evans’ time at Elland Road.
The right-back was one of Leeds’ most important players, but the prospect of a move to the Premier League turned out to prove too appealing to turn down for the youngster.
Byram has made an encouraging start at West Ham, but his time there has been impacted on by injury.
Byram missed a portion of the back end of last campaign, after struggling for fitness.
Byram could play for West Ham this evening, when they take on NK Domzale in the Europa League.
