Slaven Bilic has suggested that West Ham need to qualify for the Europa League in order to attract top talent, in quotes published by the Mirror.

The Hammers face NK Domzale this evening, aiming to overturn a 2-1 deficit, and when asked whether the club needed European football to entice some targets, Bilic admitted: “One or two players, yes."

“We are in a good position, we are 2-1- down from the first leg, that is not good but we have to beat them tomorrow and with 54,000 fans we have to do it if we want to progress.

“If we put in a very good performance then we are going to have a big chance, if we don’t we need to be lucky,” he added.

The Hammers welcome the Slovenian minnows to the Olympic Stadium in what will be their first competitive game at their new home.

Mark Noble’s penalty has provided a crucial away goal and West Ham will be confident of getting the job done on home soil.

Bilic has been frustrated in his bid to add top quality signings this summer, with links to the likes of Alexandre Lacazette and Carlos Bacca raisings fans expectations.

Despite plenty of rumours, nothing has yet to develop in the club’s search for a marquee frontman and fans could be forgiven for becoming impatient, with their striking options not looking the healthiest ahead of the new campaign.

Diafra Sakho is due to complete a switch to West Brom, according to the Daily Mail, while Enner Valencia has reportedly agreed to join Galatasaray.

That leaves Andy Carroll as the only striker guaranteed to be around when the window closes and the Hammers will need more than that if they are to push on this season.
