Portugal's Adrien Silva
According to Portuguese newspaper Diario de Noticias, Everton have contacted the agent of Sporting midfielder Adrien Silva over a possible move to Goodison Park.
The Toffees have added one midfielder to their ranks this summer, as Senegal international Idrissa Gueye joined the club from Aston Villa earlier this week.
Despite that move, new manager Ronald Koeman appears keen to add another midfielder to his side, and has targeted a Euro 2016 winner.
Portuguese newspaper Diario de Noticias report that Everton are interested in Sporting midfielder Adrien Silva, and have contacted the player's agent over a possible move to Goodison Park.
It's added that Everton received a positive response from Silva's agent, as the player would fancy a move to the Premier League - but Sporting's asking price could be an issue.
The report claims that Silva has a release clause of £38m, but Sporting are willing to start negotiating at £25.5m - a value which is still deemed too expensive for the Toffees, despite the new-found investment from Farhad Moshiri.
Silva, 27, has come up through the ranks at Sporting, and has hit 27 goals in the last three seasons from midfield, and helped Portugal to win Euro 2016 with some impressive performances.
Unsurprisingly, those displays have attracted interest - and whilst Everton may not be too keen on meeting Sporting's asking price, there appears to be major interest from the Toffees, which may bring more questions over the future of James McCarthy.
