Reports from The Times earlier today claimed that Rangers have offered a one-year deal to former Arsenal defender Philippe Senderos.
The Gers have been wanting defensive reinforcements all summer, and whilst Clint Hill did sign earlier this summer, his struggles against Burnley last weekend have again highlighted that manager Mark Warburton still needs to bring in another centre-back.
Given that Rob Kiernan and Danny Wilson showed their inexperience on occasions last season, fans have wanted to see a veteran defender arrive at Ibrox - and manager Warburton appears to have targeted one.
The Times reported earlier today that Rangers have offered a one-year contract to defender Philippe Senderos, who is available after his six-month contract with Grasshopper Zurich expired earlier this summer.
Senderos, 31, is best known for having made 131 appearances for Arsenal, where he won the FA Cup, whilst he has also had spells with AC Milan, Everton, Fulham, Valencia and Aston Villa.
A Swiss international who represented his country at three World Cups, Senderos has bags of experience, which just what Rangers need - but fans appear split on the prospect of him signing for the club.
Supporters have taken to Twitter today in order to offer their views on Senderos, with many suggesting that he would be the big, physical presence Rangers need in the heart of defence, and will trust Warburton's judgement on any signings.
However, others would prefer to see Dominic Ball return to Ibrox from Spurs, and think Senderos simply isn't good enough or quick enough, comparing him to Celtic's error-prone defender Efe Ambrose.
Here are some of the reactions from Rangers fans after Senderos was linked with a move to Ibrox...
Would rather take Dom Ball back than Senderos ! Younger and Better player #Rangers— Grant Howarth (@GrantHowarth03) August 4, 2016
Senderos? From what I remember of him, he could be our Efe Ambrose.— Stevie (@StevieGTFC) August 4, 2016
Personally don't think Senderos would be a bad signing. Dunno why people always question Warburtons buys. If he trusts him so do I.— Jordan Wilson (@JWilsonPI) August 4, 2016
If Senderos can stay fit then it's a no brainer for me. He's the physical presence we need at set pieces. Also played at a top level.— David Peat (@DavidPeat1) August 4, 2016
Senderos is 31. Played over 100+ games for Arsenal. Was solid at Fulham and had games with AC Milan and Valencia. Wake up people— Brett McKenzie (@BrettMcKenzie91) August 4, 2016
I think Senderos would be a fairly good signing for us, decent defender and if you watch him he keeps everything very well organized— Craig Smith (@csljm84) August 4, 2016
Senderos ? Never liked him when he played in England but could see him doing a job for us.— Liam Watson (@liam_Watson72) August 4, 2016
Senderos. He isnt the answer imo.— John (@RFCtheRELIGION) August 4, 2016
But trust Warburton.
Really not sure about senderos to be honest, with the way we play, I think we need our cb's to have a wee bit of pace.— The Great Waldo (@ThenNow4evaBlue) August 4, 2016
Seen fans complaining about the idea of signing Senderos. I would take him in a heartbeat if he's injury free.— Chris McLaughlin (@Chr1sMcLaughlin) August 4, 2016
Would you like to see Rangers sign Senderos?
