Glasgow Rangers boss Mark Warburton was giving nothing away, when asked whether Joey Barton or Niko Kranjcar will start in his side’s first match of the season against Hamilton at Ibrox.

Barton and Kranjcar are the two highest profile signings that Rangers have made this summer, and there is great excitement for the impact that they could make in the Scottish Premiership.

Burnley's Joey Barton

Kranjcar has excelled in Rangers’ first few competitive matches, while Barton has also looked impressive.

However, Warburton would not go as far as to confirm whether either would be starting when Rangers take on Hamilton this weekend.

“That’s too much information, but certainly they’ll be involved,” Warburton said when asked about team news by Sky Sports News, which was broadcast on August 4th. “I'm delighted with the recruitment and the acquisitions, but team news will wait until 11:30.”

Rangers have started the new campaign in impressive form, and they have won their first four matches in the Scottish League Cup.

Warburton will be expecting a tougher test on Saturday though, when Rangers finally make their long awaited return to Scotland’s top flight.

Kranjcar and Barton are two of nine new signings that Rangers have made so far this summer, with a number of the new additions in line to make their debuts at the weekend.
