The Frenchman is heading back to Marseille.
Florian Thauvin celebrates after scoring the first goal for Newcastle
This morning Marseille’s new sporting director Gunter Jacob has been speaking during a press conference at the Stade Velodrome.
During the press conference he confirmed that the club had finalised a deal to see Newcastle United attacker Florian Thauvin back at the club once again – but was unsure of any future arrivals.

Le Phoceen quote him as stating:
"We must strengthen the team. We are happy with Thauvin. Others have come, but we must respect the budget."
Interim manager Franck Passi also confirmed that Jacob had finalised the details of Thauvin moving to the club:
Newcastle's Florian Thauvin before the game
"Florian Thauvin will join us as soon as possible, Gunter has completed (the deal) this morning."
Tottenham fans will be disappointed however, as there was no comment on the deals involving Georges-Kevin N’Koudou or Clinton N’Jie – who are supposed to be swapping clubs this summer.
Newcastle however look set to have Thauvin heading off the wage bill – although there has yet to be an official confirmation of any deal.
Thauvin has played just 420 minutes of football for Newcastle United since joining the club in the summer in a deal reported by the Daily Mail to be worth around £12 million plus a loan deal for Remy Cabella.
He was loaned back to Marseille in January after failing to settle at St James Park and it now seems he is going back for good.
