Jamie Carragher has taken a swipe at Everton winger Kevin Mirallas on Twitter.
When the news came out yesterday evening that Roberto Martinez had become the new manager of Belgium, many suggested that Mirallas would not have been happy with the appointment.
Mirallas fell out of favour at Everton while Martinez was in charge, with the winger regularly being left on the bench.
However, Carragher questioned why Belgium would want to call up Mirallas, as the former Liverpool defender believes that the skilful winger’s performances at Goodison Park have been poor.
Lots saying this on here, is he a star for Belguim? If he plays like he does for Everton no manager would pick him. https://t.co/J0RyaeZnL9— Jamie Carragher (@Carra23) August 3, 2016
Mirallas is expected to have a more important role to play at Everton this season, with Ronald Koeman in charge.
The tricky wide-man is considered a top talent, but he has lacked consistency.
Mirallas played just 23 times in the Premier League for Everton last season, and many of his appearances were as a substitute.
Everton start the new campaign with a match against Tottenham Hotspur in two weekends’ time.
